Timber Frame Extension -Passive House Standards
Located just outside Stroud, this crisp, contemporary timber-frame addition transforms a traditional Cotswold stone cottage into a modern, light-filled home. Installed by our team of experienced carpenters, the extension’s robust oak frame is wrapped in high-performance engineered timber cladding, creating a striking contrast with the original stonework.
Carefully detailed to Passive House standards, the new build delivers ultra-low heat loss through a super-insulated envelope, airtight construction and triple-glazed windows. A continuous external insulation layer beneath the cladding, high-efficiency MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) and meticulous junction sealing ensure year-round comfort and minimal heating bills. Large sliding glass doors and rooflights flood the interior with natural light, while offering seamless access to the landscaped garden.
Solar PV panels have also been integrated atop the existing roof, further reducing the home’s carbon footprint and running costs. From initial design through completion, every stage was dovetailed around the clients’ lifestyle – demonstrating how contemporary sustainability and traditional charm can sit side by side in perfect harmony.
