Just completed for a lovely Stroud family, this elegant rear extension marries traditional craftsmanship with contemporary living. We carefully sourced locally-quarried Cotswold stone to match the existing cottage’s warm honey tones, hand-dressing each block on-site to achieve a seamless transition between old and new. The crisp mortar joints and subtle lime pointing perfectly replicate the original façade, while a bespoke structural steel lintel allows for uninterrupted stonework above the new windows.

Inside, the space has been transformed into a bright, open-plan kitchen and garden room. A vaulted ceiling, lined in oak-veneered timber, sits atop a high-performance warm roof with discreet rooflights, bathing the interior in natural light. Full-height sliding doors glide open to a newly landscaped patio, creating a true indoor–outdoor flow. We installed underfloor heating beneath porcelain tile flooring and wrapped the walls in a continuous insulation layer for year-round comfort and energy efficiency.

Every detail—from the handcrafted oak shelving and concealed appliance cupboards to the modern brass fixtures—was delivered in-house by our EP Builders carpenters and masons.
